About
OHL
The Oral History Lab @UPRM (OHL) follows an interdisciplinary model which brings together oral historians, filmmakers and librarians. In addition to collecting oral histories, the OHL supports the creation of micro-documentaries that represent a diverse variety of narratives originating in different parts of the Puerto Rican archipelago. It is of particular interest for the OHL to work with communities and individuals affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes, food insecurity and the environmental and social impact of climate change. We hope to amplify and preserve the perspectives and lived experiences of these communities and individuals with the purpose of fostering deeper knowledge and understanding, promoting the implementation of public policy that is more just, and creating a more inclusive historical record.
